Andy started out in the financial world but has been independent since 1998. Today his multifaceted career includes:

• travel & food writing including for the Los Angeles Times, Forbes, Travel + Leisure, Departures, in-flight magazines and over a dozen guide books for Lonely Planet Publications. Of his Amsterdam book, the Dutch newspaper Het Parool wrote "Even if you are an Amsterdammer you can learn something here." • cross-cultural consulting, helping businesses overcome the inevitable challenges when dealing with clients and even co-workers of other cultures. Consulting clients include the Walt Disney Company and Sony Corporation of America. • leading tour groups on cultural adventures, with an emphasis on Japan, as well as professional photography.

 

Andy holds Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Wharton School. He speaks fluent Japanese and French and has can follow Italian and Spanish (though not very far). A native New Englander, he currently lives in the Los Angeles area, with frequent extended stays in New York City.
